Breathe: Caring for the Volunteers Who Give So Much

Some of the most meaningful work in our community happens quietly. It happens when someone keeps showing up, listens with compassion, and walks alongside a woman finding her way toward healing.

At Covenant Cookie Creations, we want to shine a light on those people—and on Breathe, a retreat dedicated to the volunteers of The Freedom Collective Northwest Florida who support women on their journey from exploitation to healing.

These volunteers give their time, attention, and hearts to work that matters deeply. Breathe offers an opportunity to recognize that commitment and make room for their own renewal. Caring for the people who care for others is part of sustaining a compassionate community.

Michele Pavlich of Covenant Cookie Creations and Christine Fox of Christine Fox Art have been sharing the Breathe story through TIDBITS, highlighting the people and businesses helping bring this effort to life.

The community partners recognized in Michele’s October 25 update include Terri and David Parker of South Bay Stables, Rich Neal of Fudpucker’s, Carmen Foster-Ionascu of Destin City Lifestyle, Kalah Hathcock of Grand Fitness, sand sculptor Dan Anderson, Christine Fox, Rich Sanders of GoodWorks Mission, and Arlen Busenitz of Destin Dreamers.

The update also recognizes Shannon Rapier, Director of The Freedom Collective Northwest Florida; Amanda Lawrence of Haven Women’s Retreats; Shawn Fleming of We The Sheeple; and entrepreneur Bonnie Krupicka.

Together, their involvement reflects how much a community can offer when people bring their individual gifts to a shared purpose.

Why We’re Sharing This Story

For us, this is an opportunity to help our neighbors see and appreciate the faithful service happening around them.

The women supported by The Freedom Collective deserve dignity, compassion, and hope. The volunteers who walk beside them deserve encouragement and care, too. Breathe draws attention to that connection: supporting volunteers helps sustain the work they give so much of themselves to do.

We’re grateful to everyone helping make this retreat possible and to the volunteers whose commitment gives it meaning.

Help Support Breathe

Michele’s TIDBITS update invites donations toward the volunteer retreat and asks contributors to write “Volunteer Retreat” in the memo.

To contribute, visit The Freedom Collective’s giving page and select Northwest Florida. Follow the donation instructions and include the retreat designation where available.

You can also follow The Freedom Collective Northwest Florida to learn more about its work and share its mission with others.

To every volunteer walking alongside women toward healing: thank you. Your time matters. Your compassion matters. And you deserve space to breathe.
